Dr. Matthew Cooperberg, MD, MPH, is a Professor of Urology at UCSF and a national leader in prostate cancer research and care. He earned his BA from Dartmouth and completed dual MD and MPH degrees at Yale, focusing on health policy. He trained in urology and urologic oncology at UCSF, where he now holds the Helen Diller Family Chair in Urology and sees patients at the UCSF Helen Diller Family Comprehensive Cancer Center.
Dr. Cooperberg specializes in minimally invasive and robotic surgery for prostate and other urologic cancers. He is internationally recognized for his research on prostate cancer outcomes, biomarkers, treatment decision support, and health disparities. He has authored more than 295 peer-reviewed papers and helped create the AUA Quality (AQUA) Registry, a national database tracking prostate cancer care.
