Newly Diagnosed

A Newly Diagnosed Class is offered on the 2nd Tuesday of each month, beginning at 5pm Pacific Time

You talk; we listen; we share with you

At these (online) meetings, each participant is invited to talk directly with Ira Kaget, a man with more than ten years experience of living with prostate cancer under "Active Surveillance," and with Dr. Charles Metzger, (ret.), a urologist with more than 30 years of experience helping men with the disease and VP of the Prostate Forum. Ira will ask you many questions, to help understand your diagnosis, your anxieties, and your options. In the beginning, you probably won't have the answers to many of those questions--and that doesn't really matter--but you can use the list below to help you come prepared and get most benefit from the meeting.

After the questions, Ira and Dr. Metzger will usually offer some recommendations (not medical advice--that's for your medical team) based on their years of experience and on emerging technologies and options.

If you'd prefer not to talk, that's OK. You'll still learn a great deal about your diagnosis and options simply by listening to others.

Although each prostate cancer diagnosis is different, you will hear similar recommendations of second opinions, use of imaging, and local centers of excellence.

To get the most from the forum, we recommend (but certainly don't require) that you come with as much detail as possible about your situation - your PSA history, your Gleason score, any image reports, etc.
